Your RV can elevate any camping trip into a camping experience, but only if you get it to the campsite safely. We here at Pete's RV Center Indiana want to help you make the most of your travels, so we’ve put together a few tips on caring for your RV’s tires, below. To learn more, or if you need some RV maintenance help, contact our store in Schererville, IN, today!

Tire Pressure

Your tires need to be properly inflated to be effective and safe. Too low, and you can damage the wheel and lose out on fuel efficiency. Too high, and you risk a blowout and still lose out on fuel. Make sure the psi matches manufacturer recommendations before and after every trip to catch problems early.

Tread Level

The tread on your tires will wear down naturally over time, and when it gets low enough you’ll need new tires altogether. Check the tread level before every trip and make sure it’s above 1/16”. Anything lower will require replacements. Also check to make sure all tire treads are wearing down evenly—if they’re not, you may have an alignment problem and should get service immediately.

How You Pack

Even with the limited space in an RV, it’s important not to overpack. Overloading your RV can impact the tire health, as can uneven packing. Make sure to distribute weight evenly from front to back and left to right as much as possible!
