RV winter camping can be incredibly peaceful, but it can also be cold! Use the below tips to stay warm even when the temperatures drop.

Add Insulation

Campers are built with some insulation, but you can add even more insulation to make the interior warmer.

There are plenty of options, including:

  • Add window film to windows, which keeps cold air from transferring through them.
  • Get heavy drapes for the windows.
  • Add Reflectix Bubble Foil to areas that might be letting cold air in, such as around the windows.
  • Install a camper skirt to keep cold air out from under the RV. Remember to check that you aren't blocking any exhaust vents or the tailpipe.

These are just a few of the many ways to strengthen your camper's insulation.

Add More Heat Sources

Another strategy is to bring more heat inside the RV.

For example, get space heaters. These can be easy to store and set up in various rooms, such as the living room during the day and your bedroom during the evening. Just be sure to follow all of the manufacturer's instructions and reduce the risks of a fire!

Pack for Warmth

As you pack for your RV trip, you'll want to bring a few extra items.

For example:

  • Extra blankets for common rooms and bedrooms.
  • Extra clothing so you can wear layers.
  • Ingredients for warm beverages like hot chocolate and tea.

These items take up minimal space but can make a big difference in staying warm in winter!
